UK to deploy Challenger 3 tanks, armored vehicles to NATO's eastern borders
The United Kingdom has announced plans to deploy its Challenger 3 tanks and Boxer wheeled armored vehicles along NATO's eastern borders.
John Healey, British Secretary of State for Defence, who recently signed an agreement with Estonian officials in Brussels, highlighted the UK's dedication to supporting Estonia amid rising tensions, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
“Thousands of troops will be ready for operational deployment near the Russian border,” Healey stated, emphasizing the importance of NATO solidarity.
The agreement includes provisions for the rapid deployment of the UK’s 4th Light Brigade to Estonia if required. Healey described the brigade as a "highly mobile force" well-equipped to navigate Estonia's challenging terrain. This deployment marks the first time the British Army's most modern Challenger 3 tanks and Boxer armored vehicles will be stationed on NATO's eastern front.
