UK to hold emergency COBRA meeting over Iran war impact
27 April 2026 15:22
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer will chair an emergency Cabinet Office Briefing Rooms (COBRA) meeting on the economic impacts of the war in Iran, Downing Street has said.
The meeting, scheduled for April 28, will bring together senior government officials, with representatives from the Bank of England also expected to attend, Sky News reports.
Starmer told the USDAW trade union annual delegate meeting that “the economic consequences [of the Iran war] could still be with us for some time,” warning of continued pressure on prices and financial stability.
He has already chaired several COBRA meetings since the conflict began, as the government assesses risks linked to energy markets and global economic disruption.
