UKMTO: Shipping traffic rebounds in strategic Strait of Hormuz
22 June 2026 17:40
Ship traffic in the Strait of Hormuz has increased in recent days, according to the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), following the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran.
In its latest report covering a 72-hour period, UKMTO said maritime traffic in the strategically important chokepoint had begun to rise. The coordination center also noted that the maritime security threat level was lowered to “moderate” after the agreement, while cautioning that minor risks remained, Caliber.Az reports.
UKMTO added that monitoring and clearance operations in the area are continuing despite the improved conditions.
