Ukraine alleges Russian forces executed prisoners of war in Donetsk
Ukrainian authorities have reported a new case of prisoners of war (POWs) being executed by Russian forces in the Donetsk region.
According to the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, on December 27, during an assault on positions in the village of Shakhovo in Pokrovsk district, Russian troops captured two Ukrainian servicemen, Caliber.Az reports.
The office stated that the prisoners were threatened with weapons, and one was forced to partially undress before both were shot. After the killings, the remaining clothing was removed from the bodies
The Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office has opened a pre-trial investigation under the statute concerning the “violation of the laws and customs of war.”
This incident follows an earlier case reported on December 20, in which three Ukrainian soldiers were executed near Huliaipole after falling into an ambush while occupying positions abandoned by other units.
