Zelenskyy dismisses deputy head of Ukraine’s presidential office Operation “Forrest Gump” / VIDEO / UPDATED

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has dismissed Iryna Mudra from her position as deputy head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, according to a decree published on the Ukrainian president’s official website.

On August 19, reports emerged that Mudra was among those linked to the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine’s (NABU) “Forrest Gump” operation, which exposed a criminal group allegedly involving senior officials from the Presidential Office, as well as current and former members of parliament.

Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) have revealed details of Operation “Forrest Gump”, saying investigators uncovered a criminal organisation involved in laundering UAH 150 million ($3.33 million) in illegally obtained funds.

According to investigators, the money was used to pay bail for one of the suspects in the “Midas” case. NABU and SAPO said the funds were transferred through accounts belonging to shell companies, UNN writes.

Those named in the case include Iryna Mudra, deputy head of the Office of the President, former MP Maksym Mykytas, the chairman of the board and chairman of the supervisory board of Sense Bank, as well as other individuals.

Operation “Midas” is a major anti-corruption investigation by NABU and SAPO that was launched in 2024 and concerns Ukraine’s energy sector.

Searches are underway at the premises of Iryna Mudra, deputy head of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s Office, Ukrainian MP Oleksii Honcharenko said. 

Earlier, it was reported that officers from Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) were conducting a special operation to expose a criminal organisation that allegedly operated with the involvement of senior officials from Zelenskyy’s office.
