Ukraine asks US for more heavy weapons

Ukraine needs a program similar to Lend-Lease and more heavy weapons to counter the barbarism of the Russian army, Andriy Yermak, Head of Ukraine’s Presidential Administration, wrote on Twitter, News.liga.net reports.

“We are grateful for all the assistance provided by the US so far. But we need a program similar to Lend-Lease, more heavy weapons to protect against and prevent onward Russian barbarism,” he stated.

Yermak also thanked the US President Joe Biden, who called the crimes of the Russian army in Ukraine a genocide.

“A real leader tells the truth. Thank you, President of the United States, for clearly explaining the nature of the atrocities that the Russians are committing in Ukraine and the reasons put behind them by the Kremlin,” he wrote.

On April 4, the US Senate approved the lend-lease law that provides for accelerating the arms supplies to Ukraine. A relevant recognition of the House of Representatives must follow to put the new law in force.
