Ukraine calls on EU to open all membership negotiation clusters
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has called on the European Union to open all negotiation clusters related to Ukraine’s accession process as early as June, saying both Ukraine and the EU stand to benefit from closer integration.
As European Pravda reports via Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry, Sybiha made the remarks during an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers held in the Gymnich format.
The minister said the main topics of discussion during the meeting included strengthening Europe’s role in peace efforts, advancing Ukraine’s path toward EU membership, opening negotiation clusters, increasing sanctions pressure on Russia and enhancing defence support for Ukraine.
Sybiha stated that Ukraine “needs and deserves this recognition,” adding that “Ukraine needs the EU — and the EU needs Ukraine.”
He also pointed to what he described as a new dynamic in relations with Hungary, saying it creates a “window of opportunity” that European partners should not miss.
