Ukraine creates fleet of maritime drones
Kyiv has created a fleet of sea drones, which is already operating in the waters of the Black Sea, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said during a speech at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation organisation, TASS reports.
"For the first time in the world it is in the Black Sea that a fleet of marine drones, the Ukrainian fleet, has started operating," he said in a video message.
In late August, Ukrainian media outlet Defence Express reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had created a separate brigade working with kamikaze marine drones. In September, Zelenskyy said that the country was in the process of creating a fleet of marine drones. On November 14, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister for Innovation, Development of Education, Science and Technology - Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov made a statement that Kyiv had launched the serial production of crewless surface boats. At the same time, he did not provide any data on the number of drones being produced or already produced.
