Ukraine downs 147 Russian drones in overnight assault PHOTO
Ukraine’s air defences neutralised 147 drones during an overnight Russian attack on 17 April, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russia launched one Iskander-M ballistic missile and 172 strike drones of various types — including Shahed, Gerbera and Italmas models — in the latest wave of aerial assaults, Ukrainian military officials said.
About 120 of the drones were Shahed-type systems.
As of 08:00 local time, Ukraine’s air defence systems had shot down or suppressed 147 drones across the north, south and east of the country, the armed forces reported.
Authorities said one ballistic missile and 20 strike drones hit targets at eight separate locations. Debris from downed drones was also recorded at four additional sites.
