Ukraine FM: Kherson’s liberation possible with MLRS deployment
Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has said that Ukraine will fail to liberate Kherson city without multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) and the situation in Donbas region will greatly worsen.
“In particular, journalists asked Kuleba about the most important types of weapons required by Ukraine and the time frame for the supply of these weapons,” UNIAN quotes Kuleba as saying at the World Economic Forum’s session entitled "Ukraine and the EU: everyone wins" in Davos.
The Ukrainian foreign minister noted that Ukraine needs MLRS as soon as possible.
“There are different types of weapons that should be delivered, and there is a certain schedule, time frame for supplies. The arms supply is much better now than it was a month ago. The US deserves credit for bringing together the Ramstein Air Base and coordinating all efforts,” Kuleba added.
The minister said that after holding about ten bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the forum in Davos, it was clear that the problem is that other countries rely on the US.
“When I tell someone that I know that you have MLRS, they are urgently required, give them to us, the first question they ask me is whether the Americans haven’t given them to you yet. So, it's a burden to be a leader. Everyone focuses on you. Therefore, Washington should fulfill its promise and provide us with MLRS as soon as possible, the rest will follow your example," Kuleba noted.
“If we do not get MLRS as soon as possible, the situation in Donbas will become even worse than it is now. I don't want everyone to think that situation with the war is more or less okay. The situation in Donbas is extremely bad. Some villages have been fully ruined,” the minister noted.
“If we don't get MLRS, we will fail to liberate Kherson, and there are people who are waiting for liberation. We cannot allow Russian troops to remain in Kherson because if they stay, they will be in a strategic position to threaten central Ukraine, as well as southwestern Ukraine in the direction of Odessa, and they will continue to steal our grain,” Kuleba said.
The minister added that MLRS are the key to change in the war.
He also said that time passes from the moment, when an announcement about the supply of the corresponding weapons is made, to the moment when it will be used on the battlefield.
Kuleba noted that while the necessary weapons are supplied to the front line, Ukrainian soldiers are killed because other soldiers should learn how to use these weapons.
