Ukraine intelligence: Russian Caspian flotilla refuses to fight due to ships' emergency condition
Russian sailors of the Caspian Flotilla have refused to perform combat missions due to the emergency condition of the ships.
International sanctions have led to the fact that the flotilla cannot fully maintain and repair navigation equipment, RBC-Ukraine reports, citing the Ukrainian Defence Ministry's Main Intelligence Directorate.
"The sailors of the 106th brigade of surface ships of the Caspian Flotilla of Russia's Southern Military District, who participate in the war against Ukraine as part of the naval group, refuse to perform combat missions due to the emergency condition of the ships. The occupiers decided to secretly write collective letters to Putin and [Defence Minister Sergey] Shoygu and reveal all the financial machinations of the command," the Intelligence Directorate added.
According to intelligence data, in order to ensure buoyancy on some ships, including cruise missile carriers, units from Chinese-made household appliances are installed instead of the original blocks.
"Now the occupiers familiar with the 'import substitution' perceive every trip to the sea as a one-way ticket. After all, it may become their last and lead to an environmental catastrophe in the region," the report says.
At the same time, the command ordered to conceal the incapacity of the ship's personnel and threatens to be charged with treason and prison terms of up to 15 years for disclosure.
It should be noted that Russia is launching missile strikes against Ukraine, including from the Caspian Sea. At the same time, missiles are launched from both ships and strategic bombers.
