Ukraine invites US delegation as talks intensify on security guarantees

Ukraine has confirmed that it has invited representatives of the United States to visit the country as the two sides continue discussions on strengthening a bilateral agreement on security guarantees.

Speaking at a press conference on April 8, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Georgiy Tikhiy said the invitation remains open and that work is ongoing between Ukrainian and U.S. teams, Caliber.Az reports via Ukrainian media. 

“The invitation stands, and we will be delighted to welcome them when they are ready. At the moment, the Ukrainian and American teams are working on strengthening the document on security guarantees,” Tikhiy said.

He added that recent global developments have created favorable conditions for advancing the agreement.

According to him, a window of opportunity has opened to make this document stronger, particularly in light of developments in the Middle East and Ukraine’s role.

Ukrainian officials involved in the process include the Head of the Presidential Office, Kirill Budanov; Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi; Chief of Staff Andriy Gnativ; along with diplomats and other government representatives.
