Ukraine launch fresh drone assault on strategic Chonhar bridge to Crimea Second attack in three days
Ukrainian forces launched a drone attack overnight on June 9 targeting the Chonhar bridge, which connects Russian-occupied parts of the Kherson region with annexed Crimea. The crossing, used for transporting ammunition and fuel, sustained damage.
Writing on Telegram, Vladimir Saldo, the Russian-appointed so-called "governor" of the region, noted that traffic across the bridge has been halted, and the Dzhankoy automobile checkpoint has also been closed.
“Specialised services are working at the site. I ask drivers to use alternative routes via Armyansk and Perekop,” Saldo wrote.
“Ukraine is concentrating strikes on this object to disrupt movement,” he added.
This is the second Ukrainian attack on the Chonhar bridge in the past three days. The previous strike occurred on the night of June 7, when local authorities reported damage to the roadway.
The bridge remains a strategically important logistics route for Russian forces in the region.
