Ukraine lifts travel advisory for Hungary
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has lifted its recommendation advising citizens to refrain from travelling to Hungary.
The Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, sharing a post in Facebook, stated that the ministry has made such a decision in connection with the conclusion of yesterday’s election campaign in Hungary, Caliber.Az reports.
“This election campaign, which unfortunately was filled with manipulations regarding Ukraine, is already behind us. And thus, the risks of provocation that led to these restrictions have lost their sharpness and heightened relevance,” he noted.
Sybiha said they expected that, in the political dimension, not only the consular one, but the election results would lead to the normalisation of relations.
“Ukraine is ready to work toward achieving this goal. The choice of the Hungarian people demonstrated a desire to live in peace, security, and prosperity — to live in a truly independent Hungary that is part of a united and free Europe, not a zone of influence of Moscow, a space of lawlessness and intimidation,” he added.
According to him, the choice of Hungarians also marked the defeat of policies of blackmail and anti-Ukrainian propaganda.
“These are symptoms. Hungarians have clearly said: enough. This will also have consequences for other parties and movements in Europe that promote similar rhetoric,” Sybiha wrote.
