Ukraine offers drones in exchange for Polish MiG-29 fighters
Ukraine is reportedly ready to trade its drones for Poland’s MiG-29 fighter jets, according to Ukraine’s ambassador to Poland, Vasyl Bodnar.
The proposal, discussed in an interview on RMF24 radio, would see Poland receive advanced Ukrainian drones while Ukraine would obtain the MiG-29 aircraft.
Ambassador Bodnar emphasised that the deal would not be a simple transfer but an exchange, allowing Poland to gain “know-how in using drones on the battlefield.” He added that Ukrainian drone technology has proven to be modern and effective and could enhance Poland’s defence capabilities.
The ambassador did not provide details on the timing of the MiG-29 deliveries to Ukraine or the specific arrangements for transferring drones to Poland, citing operational security concerns. “Not only friends, but also enemies might be listening. We are not allowed to discuss details that could compromise our cooperation,” Bodnar said.
