Ukraine official says possibility of nuclear conflict low
Adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Mykhailo Podolyak has stated that the likelihood of a nuclear conflict is low. According to him, the consequences will be disastrous not just for Ukraine.
"The possibility of a nuclear conflict is low, but it exists. And if the world, I mean its civilian part, allows a complete collapse of the international nuclear safety mechanism, the consequences will be catastrophic not only for Ukraine," Mykhailo Podolyak said in an interview with La Repubblica newspaper.
He added that the global response to the use of nuclear weapons should be discussed at the level of the European Union and NATO.
Earlier, the newspaper Politico reported that the US intelligence services began to "closely monitor" Russia's nuclear weapons. The intelligence uses commercial satellites that take pictures of the Earth's surface in areas where the nuclear forces of the Russian Federation are located. Intelligence agencies believe that Russia may use "micro nuclear weapons".
