Ukraine orders mandatory evacuation from 14 border villages over daily shelling PHOTO
The Defence Council of Ukraine has approved a decision to implement the mandatory evacuation of residents from 14 villages in border areas, including communities in Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, Snovsk, and Horodnia.
Regional State Administration stated that these areas have come under daily shelling, yet around 300 people still reside there.
Earlier this year, however, more than 1,400 residents left the border regions as part of a coordinated effort by the regional military administrations (RMA), local authorities, and communities, aimed at removing civilians from dangerous zones.
The decision for compulsory evacuation comes on the recommendation of military officials, who stress the ongoing threat to residents.
Authorities will now inform inhabitants of designated assembly points. All relevant services have been mobilised for the operation, including evacuation transport and secure routes. Temporary accommodation will be provided, ensuring that evacuees have guaranteed places to stay.
The operation is expected to be completed within 30 days.
