Ukraine: Over 110 drones downed in overnight Russian attack

26 May 2026 10:16

Ukraine’s Armed Forces said that more than 110 drones were shot down or neutralised overnight as Russia carried out a large-scale aerial attack involving missiles and multiple types of unmanned aerial vehicles.

According to the military, during the night of May 26, Russia launched two Iskander-M ballistic missiles along with 122 strike UAVs, including Shahed-type drones, as well as Gerbera, Italmas, and Parodiya decoy drones.

Ukraine’s air defences responded using a combination of aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups from the country’s Defence Forces.

Preliminary data indicated that by 08:30, a total of 111 UAVs had been shot down or suppressed across northern, southern, and eastern regions of Ukraine.

Despite the high interception rate, the military reported that 9 strike UAVs and missiles hit targets across 11 locations. In addition, debris from intercepted drones fell in 3 separate locations.

Ukrainian authorities also warned that the aerial assault was ongoing.

“The attack continues, new groups of enemy UAVs have entered Ukraine’s airspace. Follow safety rules!” the Armed Forces of Ukraine said.
