Ukraine presidency refuses to publish petition against security chief
The office of the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has refused to register an electronic petition seeking the dismissal of Rustem Umerov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, who is reportedly suspected of cooperating with a figure implicated in an energy-sector corruption case involving Timur Mindich.
The development was announced by Ukraine’s Anti-Corruption Action Centre, Caliber.Az reports.
According to the information provided, the center’s executive director, Daria Kaleniuk, attempted to submit the petition. However, she received a response stating that “the petition to Volodymyr Zelenskyy does not meet the established requirements, therefore it is not being published.”
It was also noted that Umerov holds witness status in a case involving former head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak, who is suspected of laundering assets obtained through criminal means.
