Ukraine receives boost in air defence with latest Patriot deployments
Ukraine has bolstered its air defence capabilities with the deployment of two additional Patriot missile systems, which have been positioned to safeguard the country’s skies from Russian missile threats.
“Two more Patriot air defence systems have assumed responsibility for defending Ukrainian cities and critical infrastructure,” the statement by Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence read, Caliber.Az reports.
Ukrainian Defence Minister, Denys Shmyhal, noted that this deployment was facilitated by recent agreements with the German government, underscoring the ongoing international support for Ukraine’s defence efforts.
The Ministry of Defence highlighted that the Patriot system, originally developed in the United States, is among the world’s most sophisticated air defence platforms. “It is designed to intercept aircraft, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles. The Patriot can engage high-speed and complex targets, providing multi-layered protection for strategic assets and major urban centers,” the statement emphasized.
