Ukraine receives full thermal power plant gear from Lithuania Via EU mechanism
Ukraine has received a complete set of equipment for a thermal power plant (TPP) from Lithuania through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM).
The operation lasted 11 months and included 149 shipments weighing a total of 2,399 tons, Caliber.Az reports via the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy.
Among the deliveries were 40 oversized items, including heavy transformers and stators, weighing around 172 tons each. The Polish Government Strategic Reserves Agency provided key support in transporting these components.
This logistical effort forms part of the EU’s wide-ranging response to Russia’s aggression against Ukraine since February 2022, coordinated via the UCPM. So far, EU support for Ukraine’s energy sector has reached millions, including the provision of 9,500 generators and 7,200 transformers through the UCPM.
In total, the European Commission has allocated more than €1.2 billion to humanitarian aid programs in Ukraine and delivered over 160,000 tonnes of assistance.
