Western partners have handed over another batch of SUVs to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which are on the front line.
“Ukrainian army units performing combat missions on the front line have received vehicles from partner countries,” Ukrinform reports, citing the Ukrainian Defence Ministry's news agency ArmyInform.
It is noted that the event was attended by a member of the European Parliament, Polish politician and statesman Radosław Sikorski and Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine Oleksandr Polishchuk.
The Member of European Parliament handed the keys and documents for off-road vehicles to the Ukrainian servicemen and stressed that now Ukraine is defending not only its independence, but also fighting for freedom of the entire free world.
“Where the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stand and defend their land, the democratic values of the whole world are protected. As a representative of the European Parliament, I want to assure you that the European Union and the European Parliament will continue to be together with Ukraine. The heroism and courage of the servicemen who defend Ukraine and every Ukrainian gives you the right to become a candidate for EU membership,” Sikorski said.
In turn, Polishchuk thanked his partners for their assistance and support in the fight against Russia.
Sikorski also handed over the EU flag to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. In response to this, the Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine noted: “We believe that soon the EU flag will be supplemented with another star when our country becomes a member of the EU.”
