Ukraine receives new IRIS-T air defence launcher from Germany

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine has received a new launcher for the IRIS-T air defence system from Germany.

According to Zelenskyy, Russia carried out large-scale strikes on Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure over the past week, using 2,300 attack drones, nearly 1,560 guided aerial bombs, and 108 missiles of various types.

“Yesterday, we received a new IRIS-T launcher. We thank Germany for its continued contribution to protecting people. Thousands upon thousands of lives have been saved thanks to such strong support,” Zelenskyy said.

He added that Ukraine needs additional missiles for its air defence systems to ensure it has sufficient capabilities to repel future attacks.
