Ukraine receives “PT-91 Twardy” tanks from Poland

Head of the Office of Ukraine’s President Andriy Yermak has said that Poland had transferred a batch of “PT-91 Twardy” tanks to Ukraine.

The information was also confirmed by the press secretary of Poland’s Defence Ministry, Lieutenant Colonel Krzysztof Platek, according to Ukraine-based news service TSN.

However, the exact number of tanks and additional details of the next batch are not announced.

“The shortage of more than 200 T-72 tanks and a certain number of PT-91 tanks will be fully covered, even surpassed, because these are tanks of a much higher, higher quality level,” Platek said.

The “PT-91 Twardy” tank is a Polish modernisation of the T-72, which has been re-engined and equipped with a new fire control system and enhanced armour.
