Ukraine records highest-ever electricity imports from Europe amid power shortages
Ukraine has reached record levels of electricity imports from Europe as the country continues to struggle with power supply disruptions, First Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal has said.
Writing on Telegram, Shmyhal stated that Ukraine is increasing electricity imports and has already reached unprecedented volumes, although he did not provide specific figures.
Ukraine is currently facing ongoing energy shortages following extensive damage to its power generation and distribution infrastructure. Authorities have introduced daily scheduled power cuts across the country, with outages lasting between eight and 16 hours in some areas.
The head of the national energy company Ukrenergo, Vitalii Zaichenko, previously warned that such restrictions could remain in place throughout the winter season.
