Ukraine repels overnight drone attacks, downing 60 Russian UAVs
Ukrainian air defence forces intercepted and destroyed 60 Russian drones during overnight attacks on September 9, the Ukrainian Air Force said.
According to the Air Force’s Telegram channel, Russian forces launched 84 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), including Shahed and Gerbera strike drones, targeting areas in northern, southern, and eastern Ukraine, Caliber.Az reports via Ukrainian media.
"On the night of September 9, the enemy attacked with 84 strike UAVs, including Shahed, Gerbera, and other types of drones, on the following directions: Bryansk, Kursk, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk, more than 50 of which were Shaheds," the Air Force noted.
Ukrainian authorities said the air assault was countered using a combination of manned aviation, surface-to-air missile systems, electronic warfare, and unmanned systems, supported by mobile fire units of the Ukrainian Defence Forces.
Preliminary reports indicate that 60 drones were shot down or otherwise neutralised, while 23 drones struck 10 locations across the country. No further details on casualties or damage were immediately provided.
