Ukraine returns bodies of 64 more servicemen from Azovstal
An exchange of bodies of servicemen of Ukraine and Russia has been held in Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhya Region.
Ukraine has returned the bodies of 64 defenders of Mariupol from the Azovstal metallurgical plant for burial on June 14, Ukrayinska Pravda reports, citing Ukraine’s Ministry for the Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories.
The corresponding agreement was reached as a result of negotiations with the participation of the Commissioner on Persons Gone Missing under Special Circumstances Oleg Kotenko.
The operation was carried out in cooperation with the Ministry of Reintegration, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, the Security Service of Ukraine, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and other law enforcement agencies of the country.
The process of returning the bodies of the dead Ukrainian soldiers continues. It takes place in compliance with the norms of the Geneva Convention.
Earlier, two stages of the exchange of dead servicemen took place. Ukraine has so far received 220 bodies.
