Ukraine's air defence destroys 35 out of 35 Russian missiles – Air Force
Russian forces attacked Ukraine using Kh-101/Kh-555 air-launched cruise missiles on the night of 6 June 2023, between 00:30 and 04:00, and all 35 Russian missiles were destroyed by air defence.
The statement came from Ukrainian Air Force, according to Ukrainska Pravda.
The Ukrainian Air Force said the Russians attacked as they usually do – from the Caspian Sea area, with six Tu-95ms strategic bombers.
All 35 cruise missiles were destroyed by air defence assets and personnel from the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Most of the Kh-101/Kh-555 was headed toward the capital, in the area of responsibility of the Air Command Centre.
Meanwhile, Head of Kyiv City Military Administration Serhii Popko said that Ukrainian air defence systems had destroyed over 20 Russian air targets in and around Kyiv.
"Regardless of international humanitarian law, or their lack of gains, the Russians continue to attack peaceful Kyiv. At night again. An air-raid warning again. Yet another large-scale missile attack, potentially by Kh-101/555 cruise missiles. The launches were carried out as they usually are from Tu-95MS strategic bombers from the Caspian Sea," he said.
Preliminary information indicates that over 20 Russian air targets were detected and destroyed in the airspace around the capital by air defence personnel and assets.
Popko said that all the targets launched by the Russians were shot down, and no strikes were recorded.
The road surface and trolleybus connection powerlines were damaged, and shop windows were partially broken as a result of falling debris in the Desnianskyi district.
"Information about casualties has not been received yet. Data from the operational summary along with information regarding damage and casualties are being collected and confirmed," Popko added.
