Ukraine’s defence industry set for EU integration amid innovation boost

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has announced a landmark initiative to integrate Ukraine’s defence industry with that of the European Union, treating the country as if it were an EU member state.

Speaking publicly on her social media platform X, von der Leyen emphasized the strategic importance of this collaboration, highlighting Ukraine’s position as a hub of remarkable innovation, Caliber.Az reports.

“We are integrating our defence industries as if Ukraine was in the EU.

This is good for Ukraine. And just as good for Europe, as Ukraine is now home to extraordinary innovation. In the end, strength is the ultimate security guarantee,” she said.
