Ukraine's population falls to 28.7 million amid ongoing displacement
19 September 2025 21:45
Ukraine’s population has declined to 28.7 million, new figures by the State Migration Service suggest.
The data reflects a significant demographic shift, largely attributed to the ongoing impact of war, emigration, and internal displacement, Caliber.Az reports, citing Ukrainian media.
“The total number of individuals who have officially provided information about their place of residence (as of 2025) amounts to 28.7 million,” the agency reported, offering a rare official snapshot of Ukraine’s current population amid a volatile and fluid humanitarian landscape.
The latest figures also indicate that 3.7 million people are currently registered as internally displaced persons (IDPs) within Ukraine.
