Ukraine’s SkyFall unveils Jetkiller drone built to hunt down Shahed attacks

21 July 2026 15:06

Ukrainian drone manufacturer SkyFall has unveiled a new high-speed interceptor designed to counter jet-powered Shahed drones. Named the P1-SUN Jetkiller, the drone can reach speeds of approximately 310 kilometres per hour.

The interceptor was presented during an air show in the United Kingdom, Caliber.Az reports via Reuters.

SkyFall said work on the upgraded version began around three months ago. The drone has already been tested in combat conditions and has downed more than a dozen jet-powered Shahed drones. Serial production is expected to begin in August.

The base version of the P1-SUN has destroyed more than 5,500 Shahed drones since its first deployment in November 2025. SkyFall currently has the capacity to produce up to 50,000 such drones per month.

Russia has recently increased the use of Shahed drones equipped with jet engines. In Russia, these drones are known as Geran drones.

The new propulsion system allows the drones to penetrate deeper into Ukrainian territory, while some estimates put their speed at up to 500 kilometres per hour.

Such speeds significantly reduce the time available for Ukrainian forces to detect and intercept incoming targets. They also exceed the capabilities of many existing interceptor drones.

According to senior Ukrainian Air Force commander Yuriy Cherevashenko, quoted by Reuters, around 15–20% of the Shahed drones currently used by Russia in attacks on Ukraine are equipped with jet engines.
