Ukraine's weapons production soars, outpaces entire Europe in howitzer manufacturing
CEO at Ukrainian Council of Defence Industry Ihor Fedirko has announced that Ukraine is rapidly increasing its weapons production, now manufacturing more howitzers than all other European countries combined.
“We are producing more howitzers than all of Europe put together,” Fedirko stated, highlighting Ukraine’s growing capacity to supply its military with domestically produced artillery, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
The statement comes amidst ongoing efforts to strengthen Ukraine’s defence capabilities in the face of ongoing conflicts. The surge in domestic arms production reflects Ukraine’s determination to reduce its reliance on foreign weapon supplies and build up its own defence industry.
The country's ability to produce such a high volume of howitzers, a critical piece of artillery used in modern warfare, marks a significant milestone in its defence strategy. Ukraine’s move to ramp up weapon production comes at a time when many European nations are focused on supporting Ukraine with military aid, including weapons, training, and funding.
By increasing its own production, Ukraine is strengthening its self-sufficiency and ensuring a steady supply of essential military equipment for its forces. Fedirko's comments underscore the impressive progress made by Ukraine’s defence industry, which has been significantly bolstered by both state investment and international partnerships since the beginning of the conflict.
With the continuing demand for advanced weaponry, Ukraine’s manufacturing capabilities are expected to grow even further, positioning the country as a key player in European defence production.
