Ukraine’s Zelenskyy announces new sanctions against Russia

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced a new package of sanctions against Russia, targeting individuals and entities linked to the war and maritime energy exports.

In a message posted on his Telegram channel, Zelenskyy said the measures focus on those involved in the alleged deportation of Ukrainian children and on vessels described as part of Russia’s “shadow fleet”.

“Today, there are new sanction decisions by Ukraine — against Russian entities involved in the abduction of Ukrainian children, and against vessels of Russia’s ‘shadow fleet’.

The first sanctions list includes individuals working on the removal of Ukrainian children from temporarily occupied territories, the destruction of their identity, and their concealment from families and from Ukraine. Those sanctioned include officials of the Russian state system, collaborators in temporarily occupied territories, and propagandists.

The second sanctions list includes 23 vessels that Moscow uses for oil exports. Some of these vessels have already been sanctioned by Ukraine’s partners. We are working on synchronising all our sanctions regimes — partner sanctions in Ukraine and Ukrainian sanctions in partner jurisdictions.

We are preparing another sanctions package in the near future — of special importance,” the statement said.
