Ukraine seeks US weapons deals in talks with presidential envoy
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, to discuss the purchase of American weapons.
The Ukrainian president shared details of the meeting on his Telegram channel, Caliber.Az reports.
The meeting took place on September 22 in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session.
“I held a meeting with the Special Presidential Envoy of the United States, General Keith Kellogg,” Zelenskyy wrote. “I briefed him on the situation at the front. We also touched on the development of Ukraine–U.S. cooperation, in particular mutually beneficial agreements on drones and the purchase of American weapons that Ukraine proposed to the United States.”
Zelenskyy noted that Kyiv is interested in finalising such agreements with Washington in the near future. Security guarantees for Ukraine were also discussed during the meeting.
