Ukraine signals readiness to restart dialogue with Georgia
Ukraine has said it is ready to reset relations with Georgia and open a “new chapter” in bilateral ties, as Kyiv seeks to rebuild political engagement despite lingering sensitivities between the two countries.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said Kyiv was prepared for continued “constructive dialogue” and aimed to establish a structured diplomatic track with Tbilisi, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
“We want to open a new page with our Georgian partners,” Sybiha said ahead of a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels.
He noted that a recent encounter between the two countries’ leaders in Yerevan had been “productive” and allowed for a “good exchange of views”.
“We are open to continuing this constructive dialogue. In the near future in Moldova, I will have a meeting with my Georgian counterpart,” he added.
Sybiha stressed that Ukraine intended to advance relations “despite sensitive issues” remaining on the agenda, saying both societies “deserve” progress in ties.
“Our peoples, our societies deserve this. Yes, we have some sensitive issues in the bilateral agenda, but we are ready to move forward,” he said.
