Ukraine speeds up anti-drone net deployment along border roads
Ukrainian Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov announced a significant acceleration in the installation of anti-drone nets along roads in border areas.
Fedorov shared on his Telegram channel that the measures aim to protect against Russian drones, which Ukraine says are being used as a “tool of terror” against civilian vehicles, rescue teams, and repair crews, Caliber.Az reports.
“Following the President’s directive, we are strengthening protection of frontline territories and speeding up the construction of anti-drone nets. The focus is on roads that ensure continuous logistics and the livelihood of communities near the combat line,” Fedorov said.
An additional 1.6 billion Ukrainian hryvnias (approximately $36.9 million) has been allocated to the project.
In February, despite challenging weather conditions, 125 km of roads were covered and 55 km of structures restored. Construction speed increased from 5 km per day in January to 12 km per day in February, with plans to reach 20 km per day in March.
By the end of the year, another 4,000 km of roads are expected to be equipped with anti-drone nets.
