Ukraine thanks Elon Musk and SpaceX for blocking Starlink access to Russian drones
Ukraine’s Defence Minister, Mykhailo Fedorov, publicly expressed his gratitude to SpaceX and, personally, to Elon Musk for swiftly taking action to block Russian military access to the Starlink satellite communication system.
In response, as Caliber.Az reports, Musk posted on X: “You're most welcome.”

The urgent request from Ukraine came after the Russian Armed Forces began extensively using drones, including the “Geran” models, equipped with Starlink terminals. These satellites enable drones to operate at distances of up to 500 kilometres, be controlled in real time from Russia, and remain nearly impervious to Ukrainian electronic warfare measures.
According to reports, the Ukrainian authorities sought immediate intervention to limit the operational capabilities of Russian unmanned aerial vehicles relying on Starlink connectivity.
Earlier, Musk had strongly denied any allegations implicating SpaceX in Russian military operations. Nevertheless, following Ukraine’s request, the company acted quickly to restrict Starlink access, demonstrating rapid responsiveness to the security concerns raised by Kyiv.
