Ukraine to demand $300 billion in reparations from Russia
Ukraine will seek $300 billion in reparations from Russia for the damage inflicted by the full-scale invasion.
Ukrainian Justice Minister Denis Malyuska made the statement in an interview with German media group Funke, RBC-Ukraine reports citing Deutsche Welle.
Ukraine also wants to achieve the adoption of a UN General Assembly resolution that will be the basis for the creation of an international compensation mechanism.
"We want to be compensated for all the damage that Russia has inflicted on Ukraine with its aggressive war," Malysuka said.
The damage Ukraine has suffered as a result of the Russian attack is much higher, but the amount of $300 billion corresponds to the international assets of the Central Bank of Russia, which were frozen under sanctions, Deutsche Welle says.
Kyiv demanded access to these funds, as well as to the foreign assets of Russian state-owned companies and confiscated property of Russian oligarchs.
