Ukraine to sign cooperation agreement with ASEAN
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has arrived in Phnom Penh (Cambodia) to attend the summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
Ukrainian Foreign Ministry press secretary Oleg Nikolenko made the remarks, Kommersant reports.
During the visit, Ukraine will sign an agreement on friendship and cooperation in Southeast Asia.
"Kuleba arrived in Phnom Penh as part of the first-ever visit of the Ukrainian foreign minister to Cambodia. For the first time, Ukraine will participate in the ASEAN summit, a powerful association of ten Southeast Asian countries. Ukraine will become the first Central European country to join the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation in Southeast Asia," Nikolenko wrote on Facebook.
The next summit of ASEAN leaders is held on November 8-13 in the capital of Cambodia Phnom Penh. During the meeting, the leaders of the ten countries plan to discuss food and energy security, the growth of global inflation, as well as recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic. ASEAN includes Brunei, Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore and the Philippines.
