Ukraine unveils conditions for talks with Russia
The head of the Ukrainian presidential office, Andriy Yermak, has said that his country is ready to hold peace talks with Russia only on the basis of the "peace formula" proposed by Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"With responsible countries that respect our sovereignty, territorial integrity, we are ready to talk on the basis of our plan," TASS quotes Yermak as saying.
In November 2022, Zelenskyy, speaking at the G20 (G20) summit, voiced a 10-point "formula for peace". In particular, the document refers to restoring Ukraine's borders to the 1991 borders, exchanging detainees according to the "all for all" formula, ensuring nuclear, food and energy security.
On February 24, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he had decided to conduct "a special military operation" in Ukraine in response to a request for help from the heads of the LNR and DNR.
The decision to carry out the operation triggered new sanctions against Russia by the US and its allies.
