Ukraine urges American Jewish Committee to help with weapons

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called for assistance by providing Ukraine with weapons and imposing sanctions against Russia to get rid of Russian hatred for all Ukrainians and humanity in general.

“Russia's driving force in the war against Ukraine is hatred,” President Zelenskyy told the participants of the American Jewish Committee Global Forum, according to Ukrayinska Pravda.

The Ukrainian leader noted that the number of children who died during the war increased by 24 up to 287 people on June 12, 2022. The death of these children was confirmed in occupied Mariupol, among them babies Maksim and Darya, who were born this year and died together with their parents under the rubble of a house on which a Russian plane dropped a bomb.

“Tell me, why is this happening in 2022? It's not the 1940s. How could the mass murders, tortures, burnt cities, filtration camps that the Russian military set up in the occupied territory, reminiscent of the concentration camps of the Nazis, become a reality?” the president noted.

He added that Russia hopes that it will not be responsible for all these evil, barbaric attacks on residential buildings, hospitals, and churches. Russia is still powerful enough to hope to continue the war against Ukraine, people, to continue ignoring the reaction of the world.

“I know that you are assisting our country greatly, however, I ask you to redouble your efforts to stop Russian hatred, hatred towards humanity. Hatred is the driving force, thanks to which the Russian war against Ukraine and against freedom continues. Russia hates everything Ukrainian, the culture and history of Ukraine,” President Zelenskyy said.

He noted that despite the terrible events in the past, Ukraine remained kind and open, preserving cultural diversity.

The Ukrainian leader added that Russia even burns the churches of the Moscow Patriarchate, destroys the buildings of the Greek community in Ukraine, represses the Crimean Tatars in the occupied Crimea, and destroys the memorials of the Jewish people.

“Russia attacked Babi Yar ravine in Kyiv by missiles, damaged the Drobitsky Yar menorah near Kharkiv by using artillery. The Russian foreign minister’s open anti-Semitic statements caused a world-class scandal,” President Zelenskyy said.
“However, it’s not the 1940s now. Protect the need for intensifying sanctions against Russia. It's up to you,” the Ukrainian leader added.
“Help us accelerate the supply of weapons for Ukraine to be able to liberate the occupied areas. We need a powerful offensive weapon, without which the war only drags on and the casualties increase,” he said.
“I know that your help is essential. However, you can use even more influence because we have a historic opportunity to defend our common freedom, security, and cultural diversity from the biggest hate that has threatened the world in recent decades,” he said.
“Let's end this war, gain a victory over Russian hatred for the sake of the children who were killed by the Russian army and for the future of millions of children,” President Zelenskyy said.
