Ukrainian Air Force admits it cannot deflect Iranian ballistic missiles
31 January 2023 12:02
The Spokesman of the Ukrainian Air Force Command, Yuriy Ignat, has said that Ukraine does not have the means to counter attacks using Iranian ballistic missiles.
As reported by Kommersant, he said the country requires air defence systems, including American Patriot PAC-3 and French SAMP/T (Sol-Air Moyenne Porte/Terrestre).
"Russia is still prepared to receive UAVs and Fateh and Zolfaghar missiles from Iran. These are ballistic missiles. We don't have the means to defeat them," Ignat said in an interview with Rada TV.
Countries of the European Union, the US, the UK and Ukraine have accused Russia of using Iranian drones in its war against Ukraine. They have also imposed sanctions against Iranian drone manufacturers.
