Ukrainian army: Flamingo missiles destroy Russian arsenal, refinery facilities
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) reported that Ukrainian forces carried out precision strikes on Russian military arsenals, defence enterprises, and ammunition depots, marking a significant operation against Moscow’s logistical infrastructure.
During the night of February 12, Ukrainian units targeted a complex storage site for rockets, ammunition, and explosives belonging to the Main Missile and Artillery Directorate (GRAU) of the Russian Ministry of Defence near the settlement of Kotluban in Volgograd Oblast. This facility is considered one of the largest storage hubs for Russian military ordnance.
The strikes were executed using Ukraine’s long-range FP-5 Flamingo missiles, among the country’s most advanced weapons systems, officially unveiled in the summer of 2025. The full extent of the damage is currently under assessment.
In a separate operation, the Michurinsk Progress Plant, a high-tech manufacturing facility for aviation and missile systems located in Michurinsk, Tambov Oblast, was reportedly hit, causing a fire at the site.
Additionally, Ukrainian attacks on February 11 against the Volgograd Oil Refinery in Volgograd Oblast reportedly damaged the main crude distillation unit (ELOU-AVT-1), components of AVT-3, and other critical refinery infrastructure.
The Russian Ministry of Defence had earlier confirmed that the Armed Forces of Ukraine had deployed the newly introduced “Flamingo” missiles in these operations, highlighting the ongoing intensification of cross-border engagements.
