Ukrainian billionaires lose almost half of total fortune during military conflict
After the entry of Russian troops into Ukraine, the total fortune of Ukrainian businessmen decreased by more than $20 billion, to $22.5 billion, according to OOPS TOP.
The largest reduction was recorded in the funds of entrepreneur Rinat Akhmetov (Metinvest and DTEK). During the ten months of the operation, his fortune decreased from $13.7 to $4.4 billion. Nevertheless, Akhmetov continues to lead the rating of the richest citizens of Ukraine.
Also, the wealth of IT specialists Maxim Litvin and Alexei Shevchenko decreased by almost 40% from $4 billion to $2.3 billion, they occupy the second and third lines of the rating, respectively.
The fortune of Akhmetov’s business partner Vadim Novinsky decreased 3.5 times (from $3.5 billion to $1 billion). Former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko ceased to be a billionaire by the results of 2022. His fortune decreased from $1.6 billion to $730 million.
As the newspaper notes, the rating could also include Igor Kolomoisky, Vyacheslav Boguslaev (president of Motor Sich) and Viktor Medvedchuk. However, the experts did not analyze their condition, since Kolomoisky was deprived of Ukrainian citizenship, and Boguslaev and Medvedchuk are accused of treason.
