Ukrainian delegation to visit US for talks on mineral resources deal
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has said that the Ukrainian delegation will arrive in the US at the end of this week or at the beginning of next week to discuss the agreement on mineral resources.
“Well, we have an agreement with Ukraine that is coming up… I think we may have a team from Ukraine coming to us at the end of this week or the beginning of next week… I think the Ukrainians have hired a lawyer,” Bessent told Bloomberg TV, per Caliber.Az.
Bessent stated that the United States believes that the agreement on mineral resources is very important for the American and Ukrainian people and for the peace process.
Earlier, Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that the United States had given Ukraine a new draft agreement on subsoil resources. It obliges Kyiv to compensate for aid in the amount of over $120 billion. The United States will gain control over the investment fund being created for the restoration of Ukraine, which will receive deductions from Kyiv's income from license payments and rent from the extraction of minerals.
