Ukrainian FM urges harsh sanctions on Russia after new wave of attacks
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has called on the European Union and the United States to impose large-scale sanctions against Russia following a fresh wave of deadly missile and drone attacks across Ukraine.
In a statement shared on social media platform X, Sybiha condemned Russia’s latest assault, which targeted multiple regions, including the western cities of Chernivtsi, Lviv, and Lutsk. The strikes resulted in civilian casualties and significant damage to residential infrastructure.
Russia continues to escalate its terror, launching another barrage of hundreds of drones and missiles, damaging residential areas, killing and injuring civilians.

“Russia continues to escalate its terror, launching another barrage of hundreds of drones and missiles,” Sybiha wrote. “The scale of Russia’s daily terror against civilians demonstrates the urgency of depriving Moscow of its oil revenues, which it turns into war crimes.”
The minister stressed that the scale of Russian military production—churning out hundreds of weapons daily—presents a threat not only to Ukraine but to the wider transatlantic community.
He urged Western allies to respond with a forceful economic blow, citing the need for the 18th EU sanctions package and the bipartisan Graham-Blumenthal bill in the United States, which seeks to further restrict Moscow’s financial capabilities.
“It is in our partners’ best interests to hit this factory of terror as soon as possible with new strong sanctions,” Sybiha said. “Defund Putin’s death factory now.”
