Ukrainian health minister pays tribute to Azerbaijani martyrs, prominent figures
A high-level Ukrainian delegation, led by Health Minister Viktor Liashko, accompanied by officials from Azerbaijan's Ministry of Health, participated in a series of significant ceremonies to honour the country's national heroes and prominent figures.
The delegation first paid tribute to the late national leader Heydar Aliyev at the Alley of Honour, where they laid flowers at his grave, Caliber.Az reports per the Azerbaijani Health Ministry.
The delegation also honoured other prominent figures, including academician and renowned ophthalmologist Zarifa Aliyeva, esteemed public and political figure Aziz Aliyev, and Tamerlan Aliyev, a distinguished doctor.
Following this, the Ukrainian delegation visited the Martyrs' Cemetery, where they commemorated the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for Azerbaijan’s freedom, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. Among those remembered was Viktor Seregin, a National Hero of Azerbaijan of Ukrainian descent.
As part of their visit, the Ukrainian delegation also made their way to Victory Park, where they laid flowers at the memorial stone at the entrance of the park, honouring the sacrifices of Azerbaijani martyrs.
The official visit, which underscores the strong diplomatic ties between Ukraine and Azerbaijan, also includes a scheduled meeting between Minister Liashko and Azerbaijan’s Health Minister, Teymur Musayev.
