Ukrainian lawmaker killed in quad bike crash in Lviv region Photo
Ukraine’s State Bureau of Investigations (SBI) has released preliminary details of a road accident in which Member of Parliament Orest Salamakha was killed, according to the agency’s press service.
The incident occurred on the evening of January 25 in the village of Sokolnyky in Ukraine’s western Lviv region. According to investigators, at around 6:15 p.m. local time, a quad bike driven by Salamakha crossed into the oncoming lane and collided with a minibus. None of the passengers in the minibus were injured, Caliber.Az reports.
Salamakha sustained severe injuries in the collision and was taken to hospital, where he later died, the SBI said.

Salamakha’s death briefly put the parliamentary majority at risk, as his seat could not be immediately replaced. Following his death, the Servant of the People faction now holds 226 seats in parliament, the minimum number required to retain a majority without forming a coalition with other political forces.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident is ongoing.
