Ukrainian MP claims recruitment officers mobilised workers in Chernivtsi

13 May 2026 14:29

A construction site in Chernivtsi, in western Ukraine, was surrounded by personnel from a Territorial Recruitment Centre (the equivalent of a military enlistment office), who then mobilised all the workers on site, Heorhiy Mazurashu, Ukrainian parliament member, has stated.

He said a couple of weeks ago, so-called “busifiers” were taking away “poor builders,” adding that a similar incident had recently happened again, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.

Since February 2022, general mobilisation has been declared in Ukraine and has been repeatedly extended.

Authorities are seeking to prevent men of conscription age from evading military service.

Videos of forced mobilisation appear almost daily on social media, showing men being taken from streets, cafés, gyms, and other public places, sometimes with the use of force.

There are also occasional reports of beatings in recruitment offices that have, in some cases, resulted in deaths.
