Ukrainian Navy: Drone boat drifted into Romanian waters after warfare disruption
The Ukrainian Navy has said that one of its unmanned surface vessels drifted off course into Romanian waters after losing control due to electronic warfare measures during operations in the Black Sea.
In a statement, the Navy said the incident occurred while Ukrainian forces were conducting missions in the Black Sea operational zone. It added that the unmanned vessel was affected by what it described as enemy electronic warfare interference, causing it to lose control and end up near the Romanian coast, Caliber.Az reports.
“While carrying out missions in the Black Sea operational zone, one of the Ukrainian Navy’s unmanned surface vessels lost control due to enemy electronic warfare measures and ended up off the coast of Romania,” the statement said.
The Ukrainian Navy also said it had provided relevant information to the Romanian Navy to help prevent potential risks to civilian shipping and coastal areas.
The announcement follows earlier reports of a powerful explosion near the Romanian port city of Constanța.
